President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated a Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation to address internal disputes within the All Progressives Congress as preparations begin for the 2027 general elections.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President, Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday.
The committee was inaugurated on Wednesday in Lagos and is chaired by Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, with former APC National Legal Adviser, Muiz Banire, serving as member-secretary.
Members of the committee include governors, ministers and other key stakeholders of the ruling party.
They are Senators Adamu Aliero; governors AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara, Hope Uzodimma of Imo, Hyacinth Alia of Benue, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Bassey Otu of Cross River, Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti and Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta.
Others are Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani; Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara; Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; and former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello.
Speaking at the inauguration, Buni thanked Tinubu for the confidence reposed in the committee members, assuring that they would carry out the assignment with dedication and responsibility.
Buni said, “The committee will engage in strategic engagements and consultations to develop an all-encompassing, productive and result-oriented strategy that will stand the test of time. We shall implement a system that gives everyone, especially aggrieved parties, a sense of belonging and inclusion, with a renewed hope.
“Similarly, the committee will consider proactive measures, solutions, and the potential threats in our conflict resolution approach.”
Buni urged members not to allow personal interests to override the collective goals of the party.
The inauguration followed Tinubu’s call for unity within the APC during the party’s 15th National Executive Committee meeting held on December 19 at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja.
