Snappcode Productions has launched a fresh initiative to empower young African creatives with funding and wider visibility for their personal stories and creative projects.
The scheme, known as the Snappcode Creators Grant, provides micro-funding for filmmakers, photographers, designers, editors and digital storytellers who have powerful narratives but limited resources to bring them to life. The company says the grant aims to amplify stories centred on resilience, identity, culture and social change.
The Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Ifeoluwa Babalola, said the programme was conceived to break long-standing barriers stifling creative growth across the continent.
“Africa is rich in talent. What we often lack is structure, trust and a steady spotlight. The SCG is our way of bridging that gap. We want to champion stories that inspire, spotlight creators capable of shifting the industry, and support careers with the potential to travel beyond borders,” he said.
According to him, one creator will be selected to receive a N1m grant. Applicants are expected to post a brief Instagram carousel or video capturing their personal journey, from defining struggles and early influences to their aspirations and how the grant could transform their craft.
Babalola noted that organisers are particularly drawn to raw, compelling and memorable storytelling that clearly communicates the creator’s passion and potential impact.
Snappcode added that it is open to partnerships with brands, investors and public agencies to scale the initiative and deepen long-term support for Africa’s expanding digital and creative community.
