Onyedika replaces Ndidi as Osimhen captains Nigeria XI vs Morocco
Raphael Onyedika is the only change as the Super Eagles of Nigeria face the Atlas Lions of Morocco on Wednesday night. The midfielder replaces suspended captain Wilfred Ndidi who picked up a second yellow card at AFCON during Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Egypt in the quarter-final.
Onyedika, scorer of a brace in Nigeria’s final group phase match against Uganda, will be playing alongside the constant duo of Alex Iwobi and Fran Onyeka.
Victor Osimhen also leads the team out as captain in the absence of Ndidi. The striker was inspirational in the win over Algeria, and took on the armband when Ndidi left the pitch injured.
The Galatasaray striker will be looked upon to provide inspiration on the field in the presence of a hostile capacity crowd expected at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
Bruno Onyemaechi and Bright Osayi-Samuel continue in the fullback positions, with Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi at the heart of defence.
Nigeria will qualify for ninth AFCON final appearance with victory over Morocco, and a chance to win a fourth AFCON title.
Nigeria Starting XI vs Morocco: Nwabali (GK); Bassey, Ajayi, Osayi-Samuel, Onyemaechi; Onyedika, Onyeka, Iwobi; Lookman, Adams, Osimhen
