NAPTIP foils trafficking plot in Kano, rescues 7 Saudi‑bound women
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Kano Zonal Command, on Wednesday said it arrested one suspect and rescued seven female victims of human trafficking in Kano.
The arrest followed a raid carried out by operatives of the agency on November 2, 2025, after receiving intelligence that the victims were being kept in a house in Kano.
NAPTIP, according to its Kano zonal Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Habib, said the suspects were kept in the house pending their movement to Saudi Arabia for exploitative purposes.
The PRO added that, “Preliminary investigation revealed that two of the victims are from the Niger Republic, while five are Nigerians.
“The victims were reportedly taken to Accra, Ghana, where their visas were processed. They were placed under debt bondage, with each expected to pay back the sum of N10 million after being subjected to exploitative labour in Saudi Arabia,” he added.
The NAPTIP disclosed that arrangements had already been made for the victims to depart through Abuja airport on December 3, 2025, before the intervention.
The agency added that while one suspect has been arrested, other accomplices remain at large.
The PRO assured that the investigation is ongoing to apprehend the other fleeing suspects.
