Ajofé opens up on mental health in new single

Singer, Ajofé, is sparking deeper conversations around trauma, faith and mental health with his latest single, ‘Halle’, which he says mirrors the emotional burdens many young Nigerians quietly carry. ‘

The song, distributed globally by Roc Nation, weaves chants, percussion and vivid storytelling to explore loss, hardship and the weight of spiritual expectations.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, he noted that many young people are navigating unspoken pain. He said, “I know my generation is tired. We’ve seen a lot – online, offline, in our families, in our countries. I wanted Halle to be one of those songs that make you feel seen, not judged.”

The singer also stated that he is constantly reminded of the song’s emotional impact through messages from fans.

He expressed hopes that the record will spark more honest conversations in homes, among peers and even within religious communities, where young people sometimes feel unheard.

He added, “If a parent hears this song and finally asks their child, ‘Are you okay for real?’, that’s a win,” he said. “If a pastor hears it and decides to preach about mental health alongside prayer, that’s a win too.”

Describing his “afro-groove” sound as a tool for reflection rather than escape, Ajofé added, “We dance, love, pray and hustle, but we’re also hurting. With ‘Halle’, I just wanted to say: I see you. Your pain is not imaginary. And you’re not alone.”
