
Bauchi police arrest drug dealer, seize tramadol, diazepam worth N12.2m
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspected drug dealer, Ogbu Simon, and recovered 17,500 sachets of Tramadol and 487 packs of Diazepam valued at about N12.2 million in Ningi Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement signed by Ahmed Wakil, command’s spokesperson, and issued to journalists in Bauchi, the suspect was alleged to have been supplying narcotics from Onitsha, Anambra State, to Ningi and neighbouring communities.

According to the statement, “On November 26, 2025, at about 2000 hours, following credible intelligence provided by a concerned citizen, operatives from the Ningi Divisional Police Headquarters responded to reports of suspicious sacks being offloaded at a shop owned by Ogbu Simon.
“In response, a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ningi, Surajo Ibrahim Birnin Kudu, carried out a strategic raid on the shop located within Ningi town. The operation led to the seizure of four bags containing suspected Diazepam (D5) and Tramadol tablets.”
Meanwhile, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, Commissioner of Police, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
The command also deployed the Operation Restore Peace (ORP) unit, led by Abdulrazak Fada, to track and arrest the suspect. The team subsequently apprehended Simon, who confessed to dealing in drugs and supplying various markets within and outside Ningi.
Aliyu reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating drug-related crimes and urged residents to remain calm and continue cooperating with security agencies in preventing and curbing criminal activities.
He added that the suspect and the exhibits will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Bauchi Command, for further investigation and prosecution.
