
KolaDaisi University holds retreat on leadership, service delivery
KolaDaisi University (KDU), Ibadan, has intensified efforts to improve workplace efficiency, accountability and overall institutional performance by organising a high-level retreat for its senior staff.
The two-day programme, held at the Royal Resort Hotel Ibadan, brought together top administrators and seasoned resource persons to examine how senior staff can drive excellence, uphold institutional values, and strengthen service delivery across university operations.
Declaring the retreat open, Prof. Adeniyi Olatunbosun, vice-chancellor underscored the importance of capacity building in sustaining the university’s vision for academic and administrative distinction. He described senior staff as pivotal to maintaining standards and ensuring the seamless functioning of the university system.
Facilitator of the retreat, Prof. Olajumoke Morenikeji, deputy vice-chancellor reiterated the importance of the retreat.
“In every thriving university system, the role of senior staff is pivotal. As custodians of institutional values, policies, and culture, they significantly shape the university’s long-term success,” she said while speaking on ‘Strengthening Leadership, Strategy and Service Delivery in the University System.’
Throughout the sessions, experts led discussions on leadership development, strategic planning, teamwork, communication, and process efficiency. Participants explored practical solutions to improve responsiveness, reduce administrative bottlenecks, and reinforce a culture of professionalism.
Resource persons emphasised that strong leadership and coherent strategy remain essential for universities navigating evolving educational landscapes. They highlighted the need for senior staff to model ethical conduct, adopt technology-driven solutions, strengthen collaboration, and align unit-level goals with the institution’s broader vision.
The retreat also examined ways to enhance service delivery through effective feedback systems, improved work processes, and student-centred administrative practices. Speakers noted that when leaders at all levels work with clarity, shared purpose, and accountability, universities become more resilient, innovative and competitive.
Key contributors at the retreat included Prof. Jonathan Babalola, vice-chancellor, Bowen University, Iwo; Prof. Olufemi Bamiro, former vice-chancellor, University of Ibadan; Mojisola Ladipo, former registrar, University of Ibadan; Michael Alatise, bursar, KDU; Prof Seyi Osunade, University of Ibadan; Margaret Aziba, registrar, St. Augustine University, Ilara-Epe; Yetunde Alagbe, former ag. registrar, KDU; and Haruna Adetu, registrar, KDU.
KDU management reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to a stable academic calendar, quality assurance practices, and continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and administration.
