Mutfwang mourns late Acting Grand Kadi, Justice Umar Ibrahim
Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has described the death of the Acting Grand Kadi of the state, Justice Umar Ibrahim, as a painful and irreparable loss to the state and the Muslim community.
Mutfwang stated this during a condolence visit to the family of the late jurist at his residence in Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area.
According to a statement by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor, Gyang Bere, Mutfwang reflected on the transient nature of human life and urged total submission to the will of Allah.
“We were already making arrangements to celebrate his retirement, but Allah, in His infinite wisdom, decreed otherwise. This is a painful loss for Plateau State and the entire Muslim Ummah,” the governor said.
He described Justice Ibrahim as a disciplined, upright and God-fearing jurist whose career was marked by justice, integrity and selfless service.
“He lived a life defined by fairness and commitment to the rule of law. His exemplary conduct earned him respect and admiration, and many lives were positively impacted by his dedication,” Mutfwang said.
The governor prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased, asking Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
He also called on the people of the state to uphold values of love, honesty, forgiveness and peaceful coexistence.
“Condolence visits like this remind us to live purposeful and impactful lives. Mutual respect and unity remain the bedrock of a just and harmonious society,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the family, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim thanked the governor and his entourage for identifying with them in their moment of grief.
“Though the pain of this loss is profound, we are comforted by the goodwill, prayers and positive testimonies we have received about the late Justice, which attest to a life well lived,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to the Emir of Wase, officials of the Shariah Court and other sympathisers for their support, while appealing for continued prayers for the family.
“We ask for prayers for the two wives and fourteen children he left behind, that Allah will grant them strength, patience and solace,” Ahmed Ibrahim added.
