Burna Boy mum as show cancellation continues after action towards sleeping woman
Grammy-winning Afrobeats star Burna Boy has remained silent across all his social media platforms as show cancellations continue to trail his controversial encounter with a sleeping woman during his ‘No Sign of Weakness’ tour in the United States.
The singer, who is usually active on Instagram, X, and Facebook, has not issued any statement or reaction since the incident went viral.
Trouble began on November 12 at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, when Burna Boy halted his performance mid-show to confront a fan in the front row who was sleeping.
Asking for her removal before continuing, the act sparked immediate criticism, with many online calling his behaviour disrespectful and arrogant.
The fan, later identified as Chaltu Jateny, explained that she had attended the concert to escape grief after losing her daughter’s father and had spent her own money on the ticket. “I have been mentally, physically, and emotionally drained… I came to his show to put a smile on my face,” she said on X.
The clip triggered widespread backlash, with critics describing the singer’s response as insensitive, while supporters insisted the moment was being exaggerated online.
In the days following the uproar, multiple venues and organisers reportedly pulled back or postponed scheduled appearances featuring the artist.
Although no official reason has been given in some cases, industry sources point to the ongoing public relations fallout as a significant factor influencing the cancellations.
Burna Boy’s silence has fuelled further speculation, particularly as the artiste has not offered clarification, apology, or explanation through any of his verified channels.
His social media pages have remained without updates on the incident.
