Police begin crackdown on fireworks, ‘knockouts’
The Nasarawa State Police Command has ordered a crackdown on the suppliers and users of fireworks, knockouts and other explosive devices across the state. The spokesman of the command, Ramhan Nansel, who disclosed this on Tuesday in a statement, said the move aimed to maintain public order, prevent panic and curb criminal activities that the noise from the devices might facilitate. He said the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, had directed security agencies to intensify patrols and surveillance to enforce the ban. The police command vowed to prosecute anyone found violating the order as it reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and sought the public’s cooperation in maintaining peace and security in the state.
