
Court remands man over theft at Emir of Kano’s secretary’s office
A Magistrates’ Court No. 36 sitting in Bompai has ordered the remand of Zanna Chiroma for allegedly breaking into the office of the Secretary to the Emir of Kano and stealing items valued in the thousands of naira.
Prosecution counsel, Abdullahi Sabinday, informed the court that the accused unlawfully trespassed into the office after forcefully breaking the door.
The accused allegedly stole a Shadda Brocade (Wagambari), a royal stick, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
He was later arrested by police officers following the incident.
Chiroma pleaded guilty to the charges.
After listening to the submissions, presiding judge Rakiya Tanko ordered the accused to be remanded in a correctional facility.
However, she adjourned the case to November 30 for judgment.
