
Buni signs N515bn 2026 budget into law
Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has given assent to the N515,532, billion “Budget of Economic Growth and Infrastructural Transformation”.
The signing took place at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Damaturu, Yobe’s capital.
The Governor signed the budget on Tuesday following the formal Presentation of the bill by the Speaker House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio, as passed by Assembly Members.
The sum of N291,903,650:00 representing 62% was allocated to the Capital Programme while the sum of N223,628,350:00 which represents 38% of the budget is earmarked to the recurrent expenditure.
Signing the budget, Governor Buni said the 2026 financial bill will transform education, health, agriculture, employment, and Infrastructural development.
He further said the 2026 financial blueprint will focus more on achieving the goals of his administration by improving the quality of lives of Yobe’s people.
In his remark, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly said the budget has been slightly adjusted.
He said the adjustment is from the initial sum of N515,583,000,000 to the sum of N515,532,000,000 with a slight decrease in allocation for capital expenditure and increase in the allocation for recurrent services.
He further said some internal adjustments were made in respect to the allocation of some Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
Daily Trust reports that on Thursday 6th November, 2025, Buni had presented the sum of N515,583,000,000 budget proposal to the House.
