The wife of Rivers State Governor, Valerie Fubara, marked Christmas Day by extending love and care to babies born on December 25 and visiting a children’s home, as part of the 2025 Christmas celebrations.
Fubara, founder of the Valerie SIMple Life Initiative, visited the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) in Port Harcourt on Christmas morning, where she was introduced to two Christmas Day babies — Baby Eric Chinyere Blessing, weighing 2.7kg and delivered at 12:02am, and Baby Chidugam Kinikachi Owhondah, born at 2:00am.
During the visit, she thanked God for His faithfulness and grace, and congratulated the parents on the safe delivery of their children. She described the newborns as “special gifts of the season and symbols of hope for the future.”
The governor’s wife presented gift items, including toiletries and cash, to the babies and their mothers, noting that celebrating babies born on Christmas and New Year’s Day had become a cherished tradition in Rivers State. She also encouraged parents to raise their children in the fear of God so they may grow to be useful to their families and society.
The Chief Medical Director of RSUTH, Prof. Chizindu Alikor, welcomed Mrs. Fubara and commended her gesture. He also thanked Governor Siminalayi Fubara for approving the employment of 1,000 staff and equipping key departments to enhance healthcare services.
Earlier in the day, Mrs. Fubara visited the Port Harcourt Children’s Home in Borikiri, presenting gifts to the children and reassuring them of the government’s continued care and support. She commended the caregivers for maintaining a clean and habitable environment and expressed satisfaction with the level of care provided.
