CcHUB, Mastercard Foundation conclude EdTech fellowship

Nigeria’s education technology ecosystem received a major boost as Co-Creation Hub, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, concluded the 2025 EdTech Fellowship.

According to a statement on Sunday, Nissi Madu, Managing Partner at CcHUB, described Demo Day as a celebration of innovation. The event held in Lagos brought together innovators, policymakers, investors, and industry stakeholders to showcase homegrown solutions designed to improve learning outcomes for underserved students across the country.

“This Demo Day showcases what intentional innovation truly looks like in action. It’s a celebration of the dedication and creativity of the startup teams who have worked tirelessly to refine their solutions and meet real learning needs at scale,” Madu said.

She added, “Now in its third edition, the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship has supported 36 African startups, helping to transform access to digital learning tools in Nigeria while fostering collaboration and innovation across the continent.”

Madu further noted that the progress recorded through the programme “affirms Africa’s growing capability to build inclusive, impactful solutions that address education challenges systemically.”

The 2025 Fellowship supported 12 EdTech startups, including AI Teacha, BlueSands Academy, Cloudnotte, Tespire, Kryptr, Smart Stewards, hiPrep, Varsityscape, and Mavis Computel, among others. Collectively, they reached over 21,000 learners, 90 per cent of whom are children and youth, with 55 per cent female participation. The startups also engaged 7,000 educators and supported more than 500 schools, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.

Among the innovations presented was the Mavis Talking Book by Mavis Computel, designed to help children in marginalised areas, including IDP camps, learn in local languages using printed storybooks and digital audio pens.

Reflecting on the Fellowship journey, the founder of Mavis Computel, Chiemezie Ucheaga, said, “Being part of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship has been a defining moment for our company, cementing our belief that there are organisations committed to enhancing the provision of quality basic education to children in marginalised communities.”

He added, “The guidance from the CcHUB team, from improved product design to impactful storytelling, has helped us develop the structure we’ve desperately needed for growth.”

The founder of Cloudnotte, Mary Matthew, also expressed gratitude for the fellowship, describing it as a launchpad for broader continental impact. “Being part of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship 2025 has given us clarity and momentum, strengthened Cloudnotte’s capacity, and provided the right support system to scale the impact of Cloudnotte across Africa,” she said.
