Stanbic IBTC Inducts over 250 Participants for DiSEP 5.0 Class

The Stanbic IBTC Holdings has inducted over 250 applicants for its Digital Skill Empowerment Programme (DiSEP) Cohort 5.0 class.

Stanbic IBTC disclosed this during the graduation ceremony of DiSEP Cohort 4.0 class, which took place this week.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic IBTC Holdings, Mr. Chuma Nwokocha, told the grandaunds that the digital skills they have acquired marked the beginning of greater things in their career.

Nwokocha explained that the Stanbic IBTC is providing the training voluntarily and releasing them into the larger market to drive Nigeria’s economic growth and development.

He said, “This is not about our bottom line but about impact in the larger economy. Our purpose is to drive Nigeria’s growth in Nigeria and one way we believe we can do this is by empowering people.

“We are doing this training to release them into the larger pool. It is something we are passionate about to make sure that young people are equipped for the future because tomorrow belongs to those who are digitally empowered.”

He added, “The second thing we could also look at is creating a community that integrates them further into the IT community” and launch them deeper into the larger IT world.”

The Group Head, People and Culture, Stanbic IBTC, Ms. Ezinne Chidi Anosike, said that geopolitical and gender diversities were the foremost consideration in selecting participants into the DiSEP Cohort 5.0.

In furtherance of this focus on diversity, over 150 people from northern Nigeria and 100 women and others were selected out of over 9,000 applicants for the Cohort 5.0 class.

Anosike said, “For us in Stanbic IBTC, DiSEP reinforces our commitment to digital transformation.

“At Stanbic IBTC, social and environmental impacts are among our strategic drivers.

“DiSEP is for us a huge human capital development and since its inception five years ago, we have trained over 800 Nigerian youths in our bid to give them the right digital skills and make impact on the larger society.”
