Christmas: Oluremi Tinubu donates 1,000 bags of rice to southern Borno Christians
Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Nigeria’s First Lady, has donated 1,000 bags of rice to Christians in southern Borno State to alleviate hardship and enable them to celebrate the 2025 Christmas season and the 2026 New Year.
The donation was received through Lami Ibrahim, the State Coordinator of the Christian Northern Nigerian Political Forum (CNNPF), for onward distribution to beneficiaries across the zone.
While flagging off the distribution on Saturday, Lami commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful.

According to her, “We are here to flag off the distribution of food items donated to Borno State by the Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. I want to thank her for her generosity, the impact of which has been felt across the country. This gesture will help our brothers and sisters in the state.”
She added, “We were given 1,000 bags of rice for indigenous Christians in Borno State, and we plan to distribute them to the beneficiaries. The rice will be distributed to various groups across all the southern local government areas of the state.
“The delay we experienced may have been due to logistics and other challenges, as these items were provided before Christmas. However, as the saying goes, it is better late than never. Christmas is a season, and we are still within that season.”
She stressed, “You are her eyes on the ground. Ensure that these items get to the intended beneficiaries so that they truly benefit from them. Thank you very much.”
Also speaking, Usman Waziri Dibal, Resident Pastor of EYN and Chairman of the TEKAN/ECWA Bloc, expressed deep appreciation for the gesture.
“Honestly, we are deeply grateful, and it is difficult to know where to begin. As Christians and as ordinary citizens, the economic situation has been very challenging, and at times we felt overwhelmed,” he said.
He added, “We have never experienced this level of hardship before. However, today’s gesture has renewed our hope. From the onset, when this government was formed, we believed it would be inclusive and that Christians would not be forgotten. People remember you most at the point of their need, and that is when they truly understand your value.
“This gesture means a lot to us and shows that the government belongs to all Nigerians. We are very grateful. One thousand bags of rice for Christians in southern Borno is commendable, and we pray for more peace in our land.”
Similarly, Buba Gadzama, a member of the then APC Presidential Campaign Council, expressed gratitude for the donation, pledging continued support for the Tinubu administration and describing the gesture as a symbol of care, encouragement, and shared hope during the festive season.
