
Shettima, Zulum visit Maiduguri bomb blast victims
Vice President Kashim Shettima, alongside Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, on Friday visited Maiduguri to sympathise with victims of the explosion that targeted a mosque in Gamboru Market on Wednesday, December 24.
Shettima visited victims of the bomb blast who are currently receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH).
The attack, believed to have been carried out by Boko Haram insurgents, resulted in multiple casualties and injuries.
Speaking to journalists at the hospital, the vice president, who was accompanied by Governor Zulum, consoled the victims and reiterated the Bola Tinubu administration’s commitment to ending terrorism and restoring lasting peace across the country.
“We are here on behalf of the President to sympathise with the victims and assure the good people of Borno State, and indeed the nation, that the government remains unwavering in its commitment to securing lives and property,” Shettima said.

He commended the Borno State government for its efforts, noting that Governor Zulum has been proactive in complementing federal initiatives. He also praised the state’s sustained investment in strengthening the security architecture.
The delegation was briefed by the director of the Muhammadu Buhari Trauma Centre, who said several victims had been discharged, others were responding to treatment, while one remained in critical condition.
