FG flags off 1-Gov Cloud System to enhance operational efficiency
George Akume, the secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF
The Federal Government on Wednesday flagged off its 1-Government (1 Gov) Cloud Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS), aimed at enhancing efficiency and ensuring timely service delivery.
George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), assured that his office is committed to the full implementation of record digitisation and administrative processes to strengthen digital governance.
Akume gave the assurance at the flag-off ceremony of the 1-Government (1 Gov) Cloud Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS), which was performed by Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, in Abuja on Wednesday.
The Cloud Enterprise Content Management System is also designed to enhance efficiency and transparency in operations, in line with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSIP 2025).
Akume said that as the coordinating hub of government policies and programmes, the ECMS would provide his office with an efficient, secure, and integrated platform for managing official records, workflows, and inter-ministerial communications, thereby improving timeliness, accuracy, and decision-making.
Walson-Jack, while flagging off the system, commended the SGF and his management team for embracing the ECMS to digitise work processes and strengthen accountability in service delivery.
She noted that as an office responsible for coordinating Federal Executive Council (FEC) business and engaging constantly with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), paper-based processes could no longer support the speed and accuracy required for effective service delivery.
She added that with the introduction of the ECMS in the Federal Civil Service, records would be secure, easy to track, and readily available when needed, supporting smoother workflows and better-informed decisions.
According to the Head of Service, deploying the ECMS on the 1-Gov Cloud platform will transform how work is done, support electronic approvals, automate processes, and improve overall performance.
