Banditry: Send your children to school, Yobe emir charges Fulani
The Emir of Jajere in Yobe State and Grand Patron of Tabital Pulaaku International (Nigeria Chapter), His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mai Hamza Ibn Buba Mashio, has urged Fulani parents and community leaders to prioritise the schooling of their children.
The emir said there is no basis for comparison between an educated cattle rearers and an uneducated ones in terms of output and productivity, admonishing Fulani to send their wards to schools and stop wandering around.
He stated this during a meeting with Fulani leaders to address the security issues and criminal activities affecting the livelihood of the people of his domain in Babbangida, Tarmuwa Local Government Area of the state.
‘‘Stop sending your kids to the bush to rear animals; send them to schools. No meaningful development will take place in our communities or societies without education.
‘‘Things are changing in the whole world. For us to prepare ourselves to adapt to these changes and overcome them, and move on, we need to be really informed and educated about what is going on by sending our kids to schools and preventing them from roaming.
‘‘Education is one of the critical pathways to development, empowerment and integration into Nigeria’s modern socio-economic system,” he said.
The emir also warned against drug abuse, addiction and other forms of immorality among Fulani youth.
