
Again, bandits storm Eruku, kidnap one
While the 38 kidnapped, but now released worshippers of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Oke-Isegun in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State are still receiving medical attention in Ilorin, the state capital, bandits again launched a fresh attack on the community over the weekend, abducting a farmer identified as Annas Aasanru.
Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, confirmed the development to journalists in Ilorin.
She said, “Police operatives from the Eruku Division received a complaint at about 1400 hours on Sunday that four armed men invaded a farm along Koro Road, Eruku, at about 1230 hours and abducted one Aasanru, male, aged 40.
“Upon receipt of the report, a joint team of police, military personnel, and local vigilante members was immediately deployed to the area for an intensive search-and-rescue operation,” the spokesperson added.
The police command assured the public that all necessary efforts are underway to secure the return of the abducted victim.
According to a community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the attackers, suspected to be Fulani/Bororo men, numbering about four, stormed a farm along the road leading to Koro.
“Armed with cutlasses and AK-47 rifles, the assailants invaded the farmland and kidnapped a man identified as Annas Aasanru, a native of Eruku, before escaping into the bush,” he said.

It would be recalled that three worshippers were killed, 38 abducted, and several others, including a local vigilante, injured during a thanksgiving service for the return of the church members who had just regained their freedom from the bandits.
The 38 church members, who looked ruffled and severely dehydrated after their five-day captivity, regained freedom and are still receiving medical attention in a designated hotel in the GRA, Ilorin, to ensure they are in stable condition before reuniting with their families, when another attack occurred in the community.
