Four suspected bandits were arrested with weapons believed to be guns at the Kofar Ruwa Motor Park in Kano metropolis on Monday.
The motor park, located near the Kofar Ruwa building materials market in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State, is a major hub for travellers.
Residents said the suspects were apprehended while attempting to board a vehicle at the park to travel outside Kano.
“Some people in the park noticed suspicious weapons with the suspected bandits. They quickly alerted security personnel, who arrested them. They were four in number,” said Musa Balarabe, a resident who witnessed the arrest.
He added that the suspects, arrested around 1:00 pm, were first taken to the Kofar Ruwa Police Division before being transferred to the Dala Division.
Another resident, Umar Nuhu, said he was in his shop around Kwanar Taya, a neighborhood near the police division, when the suspects were brought in.
Nuhu further noted that many residents gathered at the police division, with some even calling for jungle justice before dispersing.
When contacted, Kano Police spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, declined to comment on the incident, saying the command was still gathering facts before addressing the media.
However, no official update had been provided as of the time of filing this report
