
Gov. Lawal Spends N50m on Teaching Aids for Gusau Nursing College
Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved the procurement of instructional materials worth N50 million for the Zamfara State College of Nursing and Sciences, Gusau, as part of efforts to strengthen the training of health professionals in the state.
The items, which are to be installed in the institution’s demonstration rooms, include childbirth simulators, breastfeeding models, cervical dilator models, adult intubation models, child manikins, dual-sex anatomical torsos, autoclaves and other equipment meant to enhance practical learning for nursing and midwifery students.
Receiving the materials on behalf of the college, the Registrar, Hamza Shehu Masu, commended the state government for its sustained support, noting that the intervention would greatly improve hands-on training for students. He disclosed that a total of 74 instructional items were supplied to adequately equip the demonstration rooms and improve the quality of teaching and learning.
Masu also lauded the Commissioner for Health, Dr Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, for facilitating the renovation and equipping of the nursing and midwifery departments, upgrading of demonstration rooms, construction of a perimeter fence, and the provision of a 24-hour solar power supply to the college and its mosque.
According to a statement issued by Suleiman Isah, Information and Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Health, the interventions have created a more conducive learning environment and underscored the state government’s commitment to improving health education and manpower development in Zamfara State.
