RE: WHAT THE NORTH NEEDS NOW II: Well done, Dr Suleiman for your educative piece. However, you have misquoted Dan Fodio because you limit your interpretation to jungle justice. Dan Fodio’s idea was referring to social injustice, including lack of Shari‘a and corruption of the then Habe rulers. Secondly, your prescription is limited to religious manipulation leaving out more structural challenges that led to the manipulation.

Good afternoon. To date that was the most constructive piece I’ve read in your column today on how to bring an end to the insecurity that has afflicted our nation. I hope those in authority will listen.

Assalamu Alaikum Malam Sule. I have just finished reading your Back Page column, The White Paper. I doubt if we can have good leaders like those you mentioned. May their souls rest in peace. Ameen. Thanks for your efforts. Jazakhallah Khairan.

Alhaji Suleiman. Salaam. Reference to your article on back cover of Daily Trust, Monday 8th of December, 2025. What you outlined are truly what are the perception of people across the divides, I urge you to delve into the primary cause of these misfortunes, namely the issue of education. So many parents could not send their wards to school not because they abhor western education but they cannot afford it. If the governments at all levels could totally finance education up to secondary school level, literacy would be greatly enhanced. China has already shown the way and see where they are now.

Assalamu Alaikum. Mr, Suleiman. Good morning and I hope you and your family are well. Please, Mr Suleiman, I am calling on Nigerian leaders to be fulfilling every promise they make to the Nigerian people. Each time they speak, let them keep their word, so that once they say something, the people will know that as leaders they will respect their promises. I am the kind of person who struggles for myself, but I have a lot of dependents. I have been searching for a job for many years and supporting myself with all kinds of work, but Nigerian leaders are not helping the people. I don’t understand why since many months ago when we wrote the examination for recruitment into the Nigerian Immigration Service, but up till now we have not heard back from the authorities. Please, speak to them. Thank you

Salam, Malam Suleiman. Greetings to you. The way out is for you, young intellectuals of northern extraction to provide a platform. I still suggest you contact Dr Faruk Bibi Faruk of the University of Abuja. May Allah enrich your knowledge and wisdom. Amin.

Re: What the North needs now II. Thank You. Yours today was even better than the first in the series last week. However, a small correction on the Malam’s name. It is: Jaafar Mahmud Adam, not Jaafar Jaafar. The latter is a Kano-based journalist who is said to have relocated abroad.

Salaam. Thanks for yours today. It is for the northern selfish and corrupt elites if truly they believe in religious values to run away completely from corruption and the corrupters among them. People with previously no means of livelihoods are now very stinking and evilly rich, while their whole earnings in the offices held can’t buy them properties worth 100m naira.
Please try your very best to think deeply on corruption. Very best regards to you and all yours. Have a good morning.

I sincerely appreciate your insights and suggestions into addressing dangerous problems that have bedevilled the North in recent times. I am indeed captivated by your inward approach to addressing the core problems. To be frank, the North needs to reorganize and order itself on genuine understanding of religion, life, leadership and development better than the way it is today. First, authority needs to be properly constituted and respected so that any person who acts based on impulse should be properly brought to order and book accordingly. If this is not done, I fear, the North is gradually leading to lawless society or state of anarchy. This may sound difficult but it is the only way out.

Assalamu Alaikum. Re: What the North needs now II. You made very good recommendations. May Allah bless you. You are a champion of Arewa, you deserve all commendations. But sir, I think you should call on the people to respect each other and to tolerate one another. We should respect what some people hold sacred. In other words, we should every one’s religion and culture.

SAS. After commenting on Trust TV’s “Daily Politics” with Kailani, also read your Monday piece entitled: “Dangote: For Profit and Country”. It really summaries the trajectory of my former college classmate, Aliko Dangote in business. He is a good example of someone who consistently migrate from mere importer, to producer and exporter on a massive scale. As you observed, the story of Dangote is that of someone who both personally make profit, but actually help boast the national economy on sustainable basis.
