NASFAT’s imams selected for South Africa grant
The Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT) has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of imams, Da‘wah workers, and volunteers, pledging sustained support to ensure they live dignified lives.
The Chief Missioner of NASFAT, Imam Abdul-Azeez Onike, disclosed this following the selection of ten (10) NASFAT Imams/Missioners by the South Africa–based Imam Development Programme (IDP) for its Economic Empowerment Programme.
Under the initiative, beneficiaries will receive a US$5,000 grant, a monthly stipend of US$105, capacity-building and empowerment support, four fully sponsored training annually, as well as opportunities for fully sponsored Hajj and ‘Umrah, among other benefits.
Imam Onike explained that the selected imams emerged from about 80 candidates drawn from various Islamic organisations after a rigorous screening exercise held in September 2025 at the Lagos State Secretariat Community Mosque, Ikeja.
He commended the Imam Development Programme for its efforts in empowering imams as effective community leaders and expressed appreciation to its founder, Sheikh Bilal Ismail, for supporting Imams across Africa.
He also congratulated the successful NASFAT imams and wished them a rewarding and blessed participation in the programme.
