Adamawa: Jimeta APC Stakeholders Urge APC National Vice Chair to Declare for 2027 Governorship
Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State, have called on the party’s Northeast Zonal Vice Chairman, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, PhD, to declare his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in the state.
The call was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a stakeholders’ meeting held at Lamido Cinema, Jimeta, where senior and critical APC leaders from the area converged to deliberate on the future leadership of Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The stakeholders, drawn from across Jimeta and comprising traditional rulers, elders, youth leaders, women groups, professionals, religious leaders and other concerned citizens, unanimously urged Comrade Salihu, who is also the Sa’i Adamawa, Baraden Jimeta, to heed what they described as a clarion call from his people to vie for the state’s top political office.
According to the communiqué, the appeal followed extensive consultations, deliberations and consolidations on the political direction of Adamawa State. The forum noted that Jimeta remains one of the areas yet to produce a gubernatorial candidate since the return to democratic governance, stressing that the time had come for the zone to be given a fair opportunity.
The stakeholders said their decision was informed by Salihu’s track record of achievements, leadership experience and commitment to youth empowerment, community development and selfless service, particularly in his current role as APC Northeast Zonal Vice Chairman. They also highlighted his philanthropic gestures across Adamawa State, which they said have positively impacted many communities.
The forum further expressed confidence that Salihu’s candidature would provide the transformative and inclusive leadership the state urgently needs, while also strengthening unity within the APC and guaranteeing electoral victory in 2027.
In a show of commitment, the Jimeta APC stakeholders pledged their total support, mobilisation and prayers, not only from Jimeta but across the entire state, to ensure the success of what they described as a “noble cause” in the interest of Adamawa and Nigeria at large.
The communiqué was jointly signed by the Chairman of the Jimeta Stakeholders Forum, stakeholders including Alhaji Danjuma Illiyasu, Alhaji Yusuf Danumma, Alhaji Usman Ibrahim amongst others
