
Reflection Fest hosts debut edition

The maiden edition of Reflection Fest, a cultural and social conversation platform created by journalist and dramatist Biodun-Thomas Davids, held on Thursday at the Muson Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Speaking during his welcome address, Davids said the event, themed Celebrating Nigeria, was designed as a space for Nigerians to interrogate the state of the nation and the role of culture in shaping progress.
He explained that the festival aimed to spark honest reflection on “where we are and where we are going.”
Representing the General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the National Theatre, Tola Akerele, the Public Relations Officer, Bunmi Jimoh, described culture as a unifying force that connects Nigeria’s shared history and humanity. She noted that cultural values remain vital to national peace and unity.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, represented by Youth Ambassador Obadare Adenekan, highlighted the influence of young Nigerians in driving social and economic growth.
He said the state government continues to invest in youth development, digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and community peace initiatives.
The Oba Odo of Ilesa, James Gbadamosi, also attended the event and expressed support for Davids’ vision, noting their long-standing relationship.
A monologue on the state of the country was performed by Davids, who reflected on the need for renewed commitment to building a better Nigeria.
Guests at the festival included representatives of Zenith Bank, Peak Petroleum, and Coptic Hospital, alongside cultural and community stakeholders.
