Mata Media debuts as Nigeria’s first hausa-language, women-focused news platform
Mata Media, a women-led and women-focused media organisation, has officially launched, becoming the first Hausa-language outlet in Nigeria dedicated exclusively to telling women’s stories.
Announcing the launch in a statement on Monday, the organisation said it aims to provide a platform “for women, by women and about women,” while promoting empowerment, challenging stereotypes and driving social change through journalism.
“We are thrilled to launch Mata Media, a bold initiative that fills a critical gap in the Nigerian media landscape,” Managing Director and co-founder, Fauziyya Kabir Tukur, said. “Our goal is to create a safe space for women to share their experiences, perspectives and ideas, and to inspire a new generation of women leaders.”
Tukur, a seasoned broadcaster with extensive experience in Hausa-language journalism, will lead the organisation alongside Editor Hafsat Bahara. The platform will publish news reports, features, profiles and analytical pieces focused on issues affecting women across northern Nigeria and beyond.
The founders said Mata Media is also committed to grooming emerging female journalists by creating training and mentorship opportunities within the organisation.
For now, Mata Media will operate as a digital-only platform, with content available on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and its website.
“We invite media organizations, partners and stakeholders to join us on this exciting journey,” Tukur added. “Together, let’s amplify women’s voices and drive positive change in Nigeria.”
The organisation encouraged audiences to follow its digital platforms to stay updated on upcoming stories and programmes.
Nigerians can now invest ₦2.5 million on premium domains and profit about ₦17-₦25 million. All earnings paid in US Dollars. Rather than wonder, click here to find out how it works.
