Nigerian rapper and record producer Jesse Abaga, popularly known as Jesse Jagz, set social media buzzing after appearing in a viral video declaring support for 2Baba amid the singer’s ongoing controversies. In the video, filmed outdoors, the rapper appeared distressed and intoxicated, holding a cigarette while shouting at broadcaster Daddy Freeze to defend 2Baba.
He repeatedly told Freeze to be quiet, saying, “Daddy Freeze, your papa. Una dey mental for head. I am physically heading from Jos to Abuja tomorrow morning. I am going to remove 2Baba so he can go drink a beer and smoke igbo. 2Baba married a wicked woman.”
Reacting after the live session, Daddy Freeze shared on Instagram, “I am truly worried about this generation. Stay safe, guys, and avoid drugs and all mind-altering substances.”
Jesse Jagz, younger brother of rapper M.I Abaga, began making music in church before gaining regional fame in the mid-2000s. He signed with Chocolate City in 2010, released his debut album Jag of All Tradez, and later founded his own label, Jagz Nation, releasing two acclaimed projects before briefly returning to Chocolate City for his fourth album Odysseus in 2017. His last major project was the 2020 EP Garba.
The viral clip sparked concern among fans, with many questioning his well-being. Some comments included: “Are you sure this one too does not need justice?” “Jesse is going through a lot. You people should tell M.I.” “This one has inhaled a lot.” “God help us. Our legends have all gone crazy.”
Some users criticised Daddy Freeze for continuing the live despite Jesse Jagz’s condition, while others defended him, noting he was merely venting with friends.
