Capo Mano to Develop 100,000 Hectares of Irrigation Infrastructure in Jigawa

Capo Mano Agriculture, led by Ms. Telia Urey will develop irrigation infrastructure under landmark multi-million-dollar Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Jigawa State and El-Meena Farms Ltd for the development of a fully integrated 100,000-hectare alfalfa irrigation project. The project is being executed in partnership with Alkhorayef Group, the renowned Saudi Arabian agricultural conglomerate.

The historic agreement was formalized yesterday at an impressive ceremony in Dutse, Jigawa State. Top executives of Capo Mano Agriculture joined the Governor of Jigawa State, His Excellency Umar Namadi, and officials of El-Meena Farms Ltd to cement the milestone deal.

Under the terms of the MoU, Capo Mano Agriculture will lead the project structuring and serve as the principal developer, working alongside Alkhorayef Group—Saudi Arabia’s leading irrigation infrastructure development company. Together, the two firms have rapidly emerged as major players in Africa’s irrigation development landscape.

The project is projected to generate over $400 million in annual economic value, create more than 100,000 direct jobs, and unlock over 500,000 indirect employment opportunities. When completed, it is expected to position Jigawa State as West Africa’s premier agriculture export hub, a major step towards the realisation of Nigeria’s agriculture export ambitions

“This is not just a project; it is a blueprint for commercially scalable, export-ready agriculture in Nigeria,” said Ms. Telia Urey, CEO of Capo Mano Agriculture.

Dignitaries present at the signing ceremony included: Ms. Telia Urey, CEO, Capo Mano Group, Dr. Armstrong Ume Takan, Managing Director, MOFI, Mr. Abba Bello, Managing Director, NEXIM, Dr. Haruna Musa, Managing Director, Jaiz Bank and members of the Jigawa State Executive Council, among others.

This latest development further consolidates Capo Mano’s rising reputation as a premier agricultural infrastructure firm in Nigeria.

Earlier in February 2024, Capo Mano Agriculture, through its subsidiary CBM Development—signed another multi-million-dollar agreement with the Niger State Government for a 50,000-hectare irrigation infrastructure project.
