Gov Lawal Disburses N263m Grant to ZACCIMA Members
The Zamfara State Government has disbursed a total of N263 million as grants to members of the Zamfara Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ZACCIMA) to boost private sector activities and economic growth in the state.
President of ZACCIMA, Dr Hassan Buhari, disclosed this at the chamber’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Gusau Guest House.
He said the chamber had previously been institutionally weak, financially constrained and largely disconnected from policy and governance processes before the intervention of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration.
According to him, the support from the state government strengthened ZACCIMA’s engagement with key institutions such as the Zamfara Investment Promotion Agency (ZIPA) and the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, making the chamber a recognised consultative partner in economic planning, investment promotion and private sector advocacy.
“Through the strong support and political will of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, grants totaling N263,000,000 were disbursed to ZACCIMA members,” Buhari said.
He explained that under the intervention, 1,000 beneficiaries received N150,000 each, while 60 strategic entrepreneurs were supported with N1 million each, describing the gesture as a clear demonstration of the government’s confidence in ZACCIMA as a credible channel for economic empowerment.
Dr Buhari expressed appreciation to Governor Lawal, members of the State Executive Council, government agencies, development partners and ZACCIMA members for their support and cooperation.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Commerce, Industries and Tourism, Abdulrahman Tumbido, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Abdulrahman Guraguri Shinkafi, assured the chamber of the state government’s continued support.
Guraguri congratulated ZACCIMA on the successful hosting of its 2025 AGM, noting that the chamber’s theme on sustainable economic diversification through harnessing local resources for industrial growth and job creation aligned with the policy objectives of the Lawal administration.
He said the government remained committed to moving the state’s economy beyond primary resource extraction to value addition, manufacturing and sustainable agribusiness.
“ZACCIMA, as the organised voice of the private sector, is an indispensable engine for this transformation. We see you not just as a stakeholder but as a partner in progress,” he said.
The commissioner added that the state government was aware of challenges facing businesses, including infrastructure, access to affordable financing, security and ease of doing business.
He also said the administration was in the final stages of completing the Gusau International Airport, adding that the seven-storey hotel project would also be completed soon.
Also speaking, the North West President of the Conference of State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (CONSCCIMA), Malam Dalhatu Abubakar, who represented the national president, said the growth of ZACCIMA was critical to Zamfara’s economic development.
He urged the chamber to continue promoting business-friendly policies and empowering micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through closer collaboration with the government and other key investors.
