Nasarawa ADC chairman suspended
The Nasarawa State Transitional Leadership Team (TLT) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended the state chairman, Godwin Alaku Williams, over alleged anti-party activities.
In a statement, the party’s state publicity secretary, Idris Ojoko, said the suspension followed a petition accusing Alaku of actions said to be detrimental to the party’s unity and progress. The allegations include failure to recognise the national leadership, refusal to integrate coalition members and reporting party leaders to security agencies.
Ojoko said Alaku was placed on a 14-day suspension pending the outcome of an investigation by a disciplinary committee. Barrister Paul Magaji Ajeh was named acting state chairman, while Umar Babayaro was appointed acting secretary. The disciplinary committee is chaired by Barrister Hassan Yakubu.
Reacting, Alaku rejected the suspension, describing it as invalid. He questioned the status of those behind the action, insisting they were not bona fide party members. He also accused the group of attempting to undermine the ADC ahead of the 2027 elections and maintained that he remains the state chairman until his tenure expires later this year.
