
Gunmen abduct JIBWIS chief imam’s relatives in Bauchi
Some unidentified gunmen have abducted four members of the family of Imam Abubakar Muhammad Digare, the Chief Imam of Jamaatu Izalatul Bidiah Wa Ikamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) in Digare town, Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Locals revealed that the incident occurred around 10.30pm on Saturday when the gunmen stormed the town, shooting sporadically before invading the Imam’s residence.
A resident of Digare, who pleaded anonymity, said that the gunmen targeted the residence of the chief Imam, who narrowly escaped before the attackers could gain access to his room.
Bauchi State Police Command, through its Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, confirmed the incident, saying that the Police received a report on 15th February, 2026, at about 0941hrs, regarding a kidnapping incident that occurred on 14th February, 2026, at 2230hrs in Anguwan Madaki, Digare village of Alkaleri LGA.
Habib explained that the complainant reported that unknown gunmen broke into his residence and abducted four female family members: Rukayya Junaidu, 19; Nafisa Zubairu, 19; Safiya Imam Lata, 18; and Maryam Dadalliya, 30.
The kidnappers also stole two black Tecno phones, according to the complainant.
In a related development, Habib, in a statement, disclosed that a joint rescue operation involving operatives of the Police, Army, and vigilante groups has successfully rescued two individuals, including 35-year-old Lawiza Abubakar and 10-year-old Musa Abdullahi, unhurt from kidnappers in the same Digare village of Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.
