
Army arrests 19 suspected oil thieves, deactivates 22 bunkering sites
Troops of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, have arrested 19 suspected oil thieves and deactivated 22 illegal refining sites across the Niger Delta.
The army stated that the operations were part of intensified efforts to protect critical national assets.
The acting Deputy Director of 6 Division’s Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, said over 180,000 litres of stolen products, with an estimated market value of more than N150m were recovered during the crackdown.
He said the operations, conducted between November 23 and December 28, 2025, spanned several states in the region, including Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta and Akwa Ibom.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, commended the troops for their successes and urged them to sustain the momentum against economic saboteurs.
He also called on residents of the region to support the ongoing crackdown on criminal networks targeting national infrastructure.
