Bauchi Governor Mohammed Accuses Minister Wike Of Plotting To “Put Fire” In His State, Says Tinubu Surrounded By Hooligans, Charlatans

According to him, the situation is part of a calculated effort to damage his reputation, force him to align politically, or neutralise him as a threat.

The Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has accused the Nigerian government and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike of orchestrating a coordinated campaign of victimisation, political intimidation, and the abuse of security institutions to destroy him.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Thursday, Mohammed alleged that Wike has been “controlling institutions, bribing people, and influencing petitions” against him, insisting that the ongoing legal and security actions involving his administration are politically motivated.

“To mention my name at all is something that bothers me, because I have never been accused of such things. Look at my pedigree and my antecedents — a public servant, a senator, a minister. There are people behind this, and I know them. I am going to mention them today.

"Somebody said he is going to ‘put fire’ in my state. The FCT Minister, Wike. And I understand he is controlling all these institutions—bribing people and selling influence," he said.

Mohammed claimed that informants within the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) disclosed that petitions and documents influencing court processes were allegedly orchestrated to target him and implicate officials of his government, including his Commissioner of Finance who is currently on bail.

“I am not saying my name should never be mentioned if my commissioner is actually involved in terrorism,” he said. “But for you to simply set aside my immunity — it is unfortunate. You give me a bad name.”

According to him, the situation is part of a calculated effort to damage his reputation, force him to align politically, or neutralise him as a threat.

He insisted he would escalate the matter to the international community, after allegedly writing to the Attorney General of the Federation and multiple agencies.

Asked what he is demanding, Mohammed replied: “I am asking for protection — because this is victimisation. Protection of my human rights. I cannot be vilified. They are reckless. The President is surrounded by hooligans and charlatans who want to join the APC — not only that — who want to destroy me.”

Mohammed further accused Wike of being “an undertaker” within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing him as a destabilising force with divided loyalties.

"He is not a genuine member of the PDP, and I have watched him closely. I was even at the Secretariat when he went there to take over. You cannot be in two places at the same time - it is against the laws of nature. You cannot be here and there simultaneously. Not with them and with us at once."

The Bauchi governor said the situation is a direct threat to democracy and accountability, warning that the unchecked “impunity” within the ruling circle would have grave consequences.
