Gombe Gov Commissions Market Reconstructed by Yobe Government
Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has commissioned a newly constructed Ngalda Modern Market in Ngalda Town of Fika Local Government Area, executed by Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State.
Speaking at the event, Governor Buni described the project as part of his administration’s deliberate investment in economic infrastructure aimed at strengthening local commerce and improving livelihoods.
He said modern markets remain critical drivers of grassroots economic growth, noting that structured trading environments enhance productivity, revenue generation, and business sustainability.
Governor Buni explained that renaming the market after Gombe state Governor reflects the cordial relationship and mutual cooperation between Yobe and Gombe states.
According to him, the gesture symbolises inter-state collaboration and shared commitment to regional development in the North-East.
The governor stated that the facility would decongest informal trading areas while offering small and medium-scale entrepreneurs a more structured platform for business expansion.
He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to continue delivering people-focused projects that stimulate economic activities across local government areas.
Governor Yahaya, who officially commissioned the facility, expressed appreciation for the honour, describing it as a demonstration of unity and testament to inter-state cooperation and regional development.
He commended Governor Buni for prioritising infrastructure that positively impacts ordinary citizens and pledged continued collaboration between Gombe and Yobe in trade, agriculture, and economic development.
Meanwhile, community leaders and business representatives at the ceremony commended the state government for delivering infrastructure capable of attracting investment and boosting commercial activity in Fika LGA and neighbouring communities.
The newly completed market features organised stalls, improved sanitation systems, and accessible layouts designed to provide a secure and conducive environment for traders and customers.
