About 832 retirees of the Lagos state public service have received retirement bond certificates of N1.5 billion under the contributory pension scheme (CPS), reaffirming the government’s commitment to the welfare of workers. Speaking at the 112th retirement bond certificates presentation in Lagos, the Director General of the Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC), Babalola Obilana, said the event underscored the state’s unwavering resolve to honour men and women who dedicated the most productive years of their lives to building institutions and strengthening public administration. Obilana noted that Lagos has remained one of the CPC compliant states with consistent remittances of employer and employee contributions. He said ongoing reforms, including digitalisation of pension processes, improved record reconciliation and collaboration with pension fund administrators (PFAs) and annuity providers, have eased long-standing bottlenecks in pension administration. “Every bond presentation is not just statistics. It represents real lives and futures being secured. Today’s beneficiaries reflect decades of diligence, loyalty and professionalism in public service,” he said. He added that LASPEC would continue to train directors, HR officers and pension desk officers across ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to ensure that workers receive their entitlements without delays.
