Man stabs friend to death in Kano
The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Mustapha Isma’il, for allegedly stabbing his friend, Halifa, to death following an argument.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the incident occurred on December 26, 2025, at about 8:30pm in the Sheshe area of Kano metropolis.
“On receiving an emergency call, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, deployed personnel to the scene. The victim, who was found bleeding, was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital where a doctor confirmed him dead,” Kiyawa said.
He added that the suspect was immediately apprehended and handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
According to him, preliminary interrogation revealed that Isma’il stabbed the deceased, 24, in the stomach after a quarrel.
“Investigation is ongoing and the suspect, who has already pleaded guilty, will be charged to court upon completion.
“We call on people, especially youths, to remain calm and avoid resorting to weapons whenever they have misunderstandings,” the PPRO said.
Narrating his account of the incident, the suspect said the altercation began while they were watching a movie on a mobile phone in front of a shop.
He claimed that Halifa suddenly ran toward them, prompting him to warn that his phone should not be damaged.
According to the suspect, an argument ensued during which the deceased allegedly struck him with an object, causing him to bleed.
“I went home, picked up a knife and stabbed him. Later, I heard that he had died. I regret my actions. If I had known it would lead to his death, I would not have stepped out of my house that day,” he said.
