Sokoto gov’t approves N1bn for Ramadan feeding
The Sokoto State Government has approved N1 billion for the 2026 Ramadan feeding programme, increasing the number of feeding centres from 155 to 170 across the state.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu disclosed this while inaugurating committees to supervise activities at the centres on Sunday.
He said the expansion followed complaints and observations recorded during last year’s exercise.
Aliyu said 34,000 plates of food would be served daily at the centres throughout the holy month.
He added that the approved sum would be used for food items, payment of labourers and other logistics to ensure smooth implementation of the programme.
He urged wealthy individuals to imbibe the culture of assisting the less privileged, particularly during Ramadan, which emphasises charity and compassion.
