
Man arraigned for invading court premises
The police on Monday arraigned a 58-year-old man, Gbenga Adejuwon, in an Iyaganku magistrates’ court in Ibadan, Oyo State, over allegedly invading a court premises with the intent to commit a felony.
The police alleged that the defendant jumped into the magistrates’ court premises in the wee hours of December 24.
The prosecutor, Sgt Akeem Akinloye, told the court that the defendant scaled the fence of the magistrates’ court at about 2am in a bid to commit a crime.
He further alleged that the defendant was found in possession of an iron pillar.
Akinloye stated that a security guard, identified simply as Victor, attempted to apprehend the defendant but the defendant bit the guard’s left hand contrary to the provisions of Sections 355 and 508 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2m with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to January 27, 2026. (NAN)
