From misconception to exploration…the quote that feeds the mind
I wake up early and chanced upon a quote, one that makes me pause, ponder, and then wonder. Something about it feels important, even profound… but somewhere between what I read and what I understand, the connection fluctuates.
As usual, when something seems deep but unclear, I can’t find ease until I figure it out. That simple confusion led to a whole journey of reflection, learning, and growth.
The quote:
“The world as we have created is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.”
Albert Einstein
My exploration begins
At first, the phrase, “the world as we have created it” sounded puzzling…after all, Almighty Allah is the Creator, right?
But as I looked deeper, I realised Einstein wasn’t speaking of creation in the divine sense, but in terms of how we shape the world we live in…our systems, our cultures, our habits, our communities.
Today, we look around and see a world filled with confusion, conflict, injustice, and broken systems. It’s easy to blame the government, the economy, or even destiny.
But the truth is the world we live in is a reflection of how we think.
If our thinking is selfish, our society becomes greedy. If our thinking is full of fear, our communities will be divided. If our thinking values truth and mercy, our world begins to heal.
Thought is the root of action. In other words, every action starts as a thought.
No hatred begins without hateful thinking. No injustice begins without arrogant thinking. No peace can exist without peaceful thinking.
If we want to change the world, we must shift from blame game to taking responsibility, from laziness to initiative, from doubt to hope, from “what do I get?” to “how can I help?”
This isn’t philosophy. This is how true societal change begins in the hearts and minds of ordinary people like you and me.
Start small, start inside
Change doesn’t require a microphone or a title, just a sincere heart and a shift in mindset.
What am I thinking today?
Is it building peace or breaking it?
Am I selfish or sincere?
This is where the journey begins.
My takeaway
Change doesn’t begin with government policies or global conferences. It begins in the mind of each person.
If we keep thinking the same way, we will keep repeating the same mistakes.
“Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of any people until they change what is within themselves.”
(Qor’an:13:11)
Finally, when you see a quote that confuses you, don’t scroll past it. Sit with it, ask questions, explore it. You never know what doors it might open inside you.
And of course… sometimes, the written word gets difficult to comprehend, but behind the big grammar, there’s always a garden of wisdom.
May Allah SWT guide our thoughts, purify our intentions, and allow us to be among those who fix the world by first fixing their inner selves.
Ameen.
