Police rescue kidnapped farmer, wives in Edo
The Edo State Police Command has rescued three kidnap victims in the Ekpoma area of Esan West Local Government Area.
The victims—Abraham Udewa and his two wives, Brinda and Anna Abraham—who hail from Benue State, were abducted while working on their farm in the Egoro Amende community.
The Command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, stated that the police received a report regarding the abduction of the farmer and his wives from a remote area within the community.
Following the report, police operatives, in collaboration with soldiers, the Edo State Security Corps, local vigilantes, hunters, and community youths, launched a massive search operation. The team stormed Egoro Amende Forest, the Igbira Farm Settlement, and Ekeke Erah Forest in the Owan East Local Government Area.
Ikoedem noted that upon sighting the advancing security forces, the kidnappers abandoned their captives and fled. The three victims were rescued unhurt.
Items recovered at the scene included cutlasses, a solar panel, a torch, canvas shoes, rope, palm oil, and a face cap.
According to the spokesperson, bush-combing operations are still ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
