
National grid collapses again
Nigeria’s power grid has once again collapsed, plunging several cities into darkness.
A check on the website of the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) showed hourly generation dropped sharply from 2660.77 megawatts around 2pm to 139.92MW by 3pm.
Shiroro hydro power plant and Delta gas plant that were contributing to the grid during the period.
This comes a day after the federal government claimed it has restored full electricity generation to the grid following a vandalism of Lagos-Escravos gas pipeline, which is a major source of supply to several power plants in the country.
