Gombe inaugurates LG coordinators to drive grassroot devt programme
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has inaugurated 11 Local Government Coordinators for the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), charging them to ensure effective grassroots implementation of the programme across the state.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Thursday in Gombe, the governor, represented by his Deputy, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, said the Renewed Hope Agenda, introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the welfare and living standards of Nigerians.
Dr Jatau explained that the initiative, championed by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is designed to uplift vulnerable citizens, empower small and medium-scale enterprises, and promote entrepreneurship among youths as a pathway to poverty reduction and economic growth.
The deputy governor urged the newly inaugurated coordinators to justify the confidence reposed in them, noting that their performance would determine future recognition.
He also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu, the First Lady and Governor Yahaya for their sustained commitment to the welfare of Nigerians.
As part of activities marking the inauguration, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Abubakar Inuwa Kari, flagged off the distribution of rice to vulnerable persons, saying the intervention was aimed at cushioning economic hardship. He urged residents to continue supporting the President and the state government.
In his remarks, the APC State Chairman, Hon. Nitte Amangal, praised the Renewed Hope Initiative and called on the coordinators to discharge their duties with dedication and sincerity.
Earlier, the State RHI Coordinator, Aishatu Jibril Dukku, described the initiative as a national social development intervention supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda through targeted empowerment of women, youths, persons with disabilities and vulnerable communities.
