No fewer than 267 households across three communities in the Agboyi area of Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State have received N310,000 each from the state chapter of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, in collaboration with the British Red Cross.
The spokesperson for the Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Red Cross, Olushola Tejuosho, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, saying that pre-loaded ATM cards were distributed to residents under the second phase of the Food Security and Livelihood Support Programme.
Tejuosho noted that the intervention, part of a long-term resilience and disaster-management effort in Agboyi, aims to strengthen households affected by years of recurrent flooding.
The programme, which ran on Friday, 28th, and Saturday, 29th November 2025, reached a total of 267 beneficiaries across the three Agboyi communities — Agboyi 1 with 136 beneficiaries, Agboyi 2 with about 70, and Agboyi 3 with about 60.
The statement read, “Each beneficiary received N310,000, out of which the sum of N250,000 was dedicated strictly to business support and N60,000 set aside for personal needs — a structure designed to support both immediate well-being and long-term stability.
“As beneficiaries received their ATM cards, emotions ran deep. For many, the intervention represented more than financial support; it was a lifeline, a reminder that they had not been forgotten despite the economic and environmental challenges they continue to face.”
According to the statement, one of the beneficiaries, identified only as Adenike from Agboyi 1, said, “This is the best humanitarian intervention I have ever seen in my lifetime.
“The selection process was fair, transparent, and exactly as they explained to us from the beginning. I am grateful to the Red Cross and I promise to use this money wisely for my business.”
