Gov. Lawal Inspects Shinkafi Projects, Says Rescue Mission on Track
Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has said his administration’s rescue mission is on course and already delivering results.
He said this, on Wednesday, while inspecting ongoing state government projects in Shinkafi Local Government Area.
During the visit, Lawal also launched an empowerment programme initiated by the member representing Shinkafi/Zurmi Federal Constituency, Hon. Bello Hassan Shinkafi, which is expected to benefit about 2,000 people.
The empowerment scheme, the statement said, includes the distribution of items such as luxury vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles, sewing machines and other equipment to beneficiaries.
Governor Lawal inspected the Women and Children Welfare Clinic (WCWC) Primary Healthcare Centre in Shinkafi town, which has been awarded for total renovation, as well as the renovated General Hospital in the area.
He also visited the site of the ongoing construction of a new Referral Hospital in Shinkafi, which he described as a critical intervention for healthcare delivery in the zone.
Speaking at the Emir’s Palace, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to executing capital projects across all local government areas of the state.
“We are in Shinkafi today to inspect numerous key projects of my administration and to launch the empowerment programme of Hon. Bello Hassan, member representing Shinkafi/Zurmi constituency,” Lawal said.
He added that the General Hospital in Shinkafi had been fully renovated and equipped, noting that the once-abandoned facility now has modern equipment capable of handling emergency medical needs.
According to him, the ongoing Referral Hospital project will be a game changer not only for Shinkafi Local Government Area but also for the entire Zamfara North Senatorial Zone, as it will reduce the burden on residents seeking specialised medical care.
The governor further disclosed that the state government has acquired the former Bafarawa Institute, which will house the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Zamfara State University.
He said work is ongoing at the facility to ensure its completion and effective utilisation.
Gov. Lawal commended Hon. Bello Hassan for the empowerment initiative and urged other stakeholders to focus on programmes that promote human development across the state.
