Kano Pilgrims Welfare Board DG resigns
Director General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Laminu Rabiu, has resigned his appointment with immediate effect.
Rabiu announced his resignation in a letter dated January 25, 2026, and addressed to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
In the letter, the former director general said the decision was taken after careful consideration, explaining that evolving political circumstances within the party had made it necessary for him to refocus his commitments.
According to him, his resignation was informed by his continued loyalty to the Kwankwasiyya movement and its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
“As a devoted member of the Kwankwasiyya movement, I remain unwaveringly loyal to our leader and dedicated to the principles and objectives that guide our political movement,” he said.
Rabiu noted that stepping aside from the appointment would enable him to fully support what he described as the strategic direction required in the current political landscape, while also preserving unity within the party.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Yusuf for the confidence reposed in him to lead the Pilgrims Welfare Board, describing his time in office as an honour and privilege.
“I am proud of the progress we have made in advancing the welfare of our pilgrims and strengthening the Board’s operational effectiveness,” he stated.
The former DG also thanked members of the board and staff of the agency for their cooperation and support during his tenure, while praying for continued progress for Kano State.
