The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has made a massive seizure of cocaine worth N1 billion at the Seme border in Lagos State.
The illicit consignment, which weighed around 25 kilograms, was hidden in 22 packages inside a Toyota Highlander vehicle.
According to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, the vehicle was intercepted in the early hours of February 10, 2026, along the Badagry-Seme axis.
The CGC, who was represented by Deputy Comptroller General of Customs Timi Bomodi, stated that one suspect was already in custody, while efforts to arrest other members of the gang have commenced.
“This timely interception was not a matter of chance, but the direct result of actionable intelligence received and swiftly acted upon by the Seme Area Command, under the able leadership of Comptroller Wale Adenuga.
“In line with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2024, and to strengthen the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between our two agencies, the suspected cocaine, the means of conveyance (the Toyota Highlander vehicle), and the arrested suspect have been formally handed over to ACG N Abubakar Liman Wali, Commander of the NDLEA Lagos Strategic Command,” he said.
