
Borno LG polls: Zulum casts vote, hails voter turnout
Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has expressed confidence in the victory of President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Zulum cast his vote during the 2025 Chairmanship and Councillorship elections held across the state’s 27 Local Government Areas and 312 political wards on Saturday. He voted at Ajari II Polling Unit 006 in Mafa Ward, the headquarters of the local government.

The election featured six political parties, including the APC, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Labour Party (LP), and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
Speaking to journalists after voting, Zulum commended the conduct of the elections and the voter turnout.
“You have seen the turnout; you know this is my hometown. Overall, I assess the process as good. It is expected that the 2027 elections will also be well-conducted. This is a litmus test, and in 2027, APC will win, from the President down to every member of the State Assembly. Borno is the home of APC, and I am a son of this town,” he said.
Meanwhile, Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan, representing Borno Central, voted at Lawan Asheik Polling Unit in Shehu South Ward, Maiduguri, demonstrating his commitment to grassroots democracy and civic responsibility.
The election was peaceful and well-managed, with high voter turnout reflecting growing public confidence in local democracy.
The active participation of residents underscores their commitment to local governance and strengthens democratic institutions in Borno State.
