Michael Carrick challenges Man United to build on derby win
Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has urged his players to build on their dominant 2–0 victory over Manchester City on Saturday at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils were revitalised by the change in management, with goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Patrick Dorgu dealing a major blow to Man City’s Premier League title challenge.
Manchester United also had three goals ruled out for marginal offside decisions and were denied further by a series of fine saves from City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

“Great start. No getting away from that,” Carrick said after the match. “The boys were fantastic.”
The win is Man United’s second in eight matches across all competitions and lifted them into fourth place in the league ahead of the remaining weekend fixtures.
Carrick’s side face another stern test next week when they travel to league leaders Arsenal. However, inconsistency has plagued United this season, particularly against lower-ranked opposition.
Under former manager Ruben Amorim, who was sacked earlier this month, United failed to secure home victories against Wolves, Bournemouth, West Ham and Everton.
“Consistency is the key to any success,” Carrick added. “If you can find that, then you’re onto a winner.
“That’s our challenge, we’ve got to find a way to do that. Next week is a big one, another tough test, but on the back of today, we’ve got a good foundation.”
