Insecurity costs Borno N100b in 2025 – Zulum
Babagana Zulum, Governor of Borno State
Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno State said his administration spends about N100 billion this year to improve the security situation in the state. He made the revelation when he paid royal homage to the Emir of Uba, Ali Ibn Mamza, at his palace in Uba, in Askira/Uba local government area of the southern part of the state, on Thursday evening.
According to him, the visit aimed to assess the security situation in Askira/Uba local government, lamenting that due to persistent insecurity, contractors had abandoned road construction networks in the area. Zulum assured the people of road construction in the near future, with the establishment of a higher education institution, computer centers, and more.
“My visit is to do a lot of work, and most especially, assess the security situation. Security is important; without it, there would be no peace. I have plans to construct roads, but the problem is no contractor wants to come down and work here. That’s why I am establishing a quarry site in Gwoza and purchasing 100 trucks so that our road maintenance agency can construct roads,” he said.

“In this year, what I spent on security is about N100 billion. All these things; if there’s peace, what won’t I use it to do? We have plans for education, health, and more. The truth is that we are spending a lot on security and putting structures in place,” Zulum noted.
In his remarks, Ali Ibn Mamza, the Emir of Uba, noted that Governor Zulum’s administration has done well despite insecurity challenges facing the state. “You’ve done a lot for us with many projects. If not for you, we would be suffering. We will continue to pray for lasting peace in Borno and the entire country,” he assured.
